TRAVELLING BACK HOME WITH JAMES CHERONIS

James Cheronis has stopped searching.

All the roads he has frequented have pointed in one direction - back home.

James will be the first to tell you that in his younger years in Northwestern Pennsylvania, he was trying to find himself.

Ironically music found him.

College wasn’t his thing at time, so he turned to the military.

“I figured I had to get my act straight, and if things worked out, I would be able to come back and marry my high school sweetheart,” James said.

A somewhat awkward turn, James admits, but his overseas military service gave him a new lens in which to view his life, and proved to be an inspiration for his songs.

After his tour in Germany, James ended up stateside in Fort Stewart, Georgia. He found fellow Army musicians jamming one day in a room, and asked if they were looking for a singer.

It was his lucky day. They said ‘yes’.

So, with his Army band, he wrote about 10 to 15 songs.

“And we wrote these songs, and we recorded them on a little four track,” James recalls.

Fast forward (no pun intended) a bit. Things worked out, and James did marry his high school sweetheart - back home.

During the 90s, James sang with hard rock/alternative band Brandy Lies, progressive rock band Graphite Symphony, The Charlie Wheeler Band, a rockin’ blues outfit, and currently is the lead vocalist for the Foreigner Tribute Band Blue Morning.

Since his military days, some of these songs have been with him yearning for a way to be heard. Other songs were written with longtime collaborator and current Blue Morning bass player, Roger Christopherson.

Either way his songs hadn’t found their voices until now, when they arrived - back home.

Come and join James as he celebrates the release of his new 11-song studio album - “Back Home” in the spring of 2025.

James doesn’t use any tricks or gimmicks. His voice lends itself to his powerful songs. Power ballads, blues, straight-ahead rockers - James is comfortable singing in any genre. Whether writing about heartache, relationships, miracles, self-reflection or redemption, his songs instantly speak to your soul.

“Back Home,” also the title of the first song on the album, holds a special place in James’s heart.

“It’s about me coming back from the war, and it always reminds me about how I couldn't wait to come home, and see my family. When I finally got to JFK, I got on my knees and I kissed the ground I walked on, and I said, ‘Thank you, God.’”

Listen to his voice, his songs, and you will find yourself traveling with him - “Back Home.”
